The company brain starterOne brain that every Claude in your business reads.

By Joe Stone

Chris and I share one brain: a folder of rules, memories and client pages that both our Claudes read at the start of every session. When one of us corrects something, the other's Claude has the fix by the next session. This prompt builds the skeleton of yours, with the rules that keep it useful.

  • Runs in
  • Claude Code
  • Obsidian
  • GitHub

What you need

  • Claude Code, and a few weeks of using it, so you know what you keep re-explaining. The beginner steps are in How we use Claude (opens in a new tab).
  • A private place everyone can reach. We use a private GitHub repo; on your own, a folder on your laptop is fine to start.
  • Optional: Obsidian, free, to read the brain like a notebook and fix what's wrong. It's at obsidian.md (opens in a new tab).
My rule

One fact per memory, with a name and a date. And nothing goes out without a person's yes.

The prompt

Change the parts in [square brackets] to fit who you sell to, then copy it.

Set up a shared company brain in this folder for [my business], used by [me and my co-founder]. Create: - CLAUDE.md: the business rules every session follows. Start with: never send, post or book anything without the owner's yes on that exact item; never invent numbers, quotes or stories; never store passwords or keys here. - memory/ with MEMORY.md as a short index, one line per memory. Each memory is one fact in its own file: what was decided, who said it and the date. When two disagree, the newest dated words from a founder win, and you tell us. - wiki/ with one page per client and per person, from a template: who they are, what we've agreed, open actions, last contact. - learnings.md: mistakes and the fix, newest first. - founders/[name].md: how each of us likes to work. Keep MEMORY.md under 150 lines. Then explain, step by step, how to keep this folder in a private git repo so all our Claudes read the same copy, and the one line each of us adds to our own CLAUDE.md to load it. Ask before you create or change anything outside this folder.

What came back when I ran this search

204memories in ours, with 36 company pages and 54 people pages, shared by two founders.

  • Each Claude pulls the latest at the start of a session and pushes after every reply, with a sync every 10 minutes on top.
  • A weekly clean-up suggests what to merge or archive. Nothing goes until one of us ticks the box.

Before you share it

  • No passwords or keys in it, even in a private repo. Add a check that blocks them.
  • Keep personal notes out of the shared folder.
  • Read it once a week and fix anything wrong. Claude believes what's written.

This is how two founders keep one Claude. If you'd rather we ran your outreach, with a brain like this behind it, let's talk.
